I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor whose primary treatment approaches are based on body physiology with emphasis on the restoring resiliency in the nervous system. These include Somatic Experiencing®, DARe®, and BASE®.
My specialty is creating a safe and contained space where deep shifts occur and integrate. These deep shifts can show up as decreased or resolved anxiety and post-traumatic symptoms, decreased pain and physical symptoms, resulting in a stronger sense of personal boundaries.
I have extensive training in Somatic Experiencing®, a body/physiology focused approach to recovery from trauma and overwhelming experiences.
I have more than 25 years of experience treating people with trauma symptoms. I integrate Somatic Experiencing® with other approaches such as behavioral medicine.
Many admit that in response to certain triggers, they disappear into a bubble of shame, fearfulness, freeze, anger, shutdown and/or panic. This response pattern can originate from an earlier time in life. We can address these patterns and support integration of a new nervous system pattern through a safe approach to restoring resiliency to the nervous system.
Residual unresolved trauma and stress increase physical symptoms such as pain and many physical diagnoses. By decreasing charge and activation in the nervous system from a traumatic event, the body's resources are more freed up for healing.

The goal of treatment is to restore natural regulation to the body and nervous system. Better regulation can be experienced as feeling calmer, more confident, safer, more embodied and connected to life.
Traumas and conditions that can benefit from the Somatic Experiencing® approach include: anxiety, PTSD, trauma from medical and dental procedures, trauma from catastrophic injuries including brain injury, vehicle accidents, falls, sexual and emotional abuse, and chronic pain, OCD, phobias, fatigue, depression, and management of syndromes including interstitial cystitis, pelvic pain, Lupus, and many other syndromes. I also specialize in surgical preparation.
